Service Opportunities
Feed the Hungry/Lunch in the Park
- As a first priority Liberty Village is focused on feeding the hungry and building the capability of our first program: Feeding the Hungry/Lunch in the Park. We are working with other ministries to help alleviate chronic hunger, especially among the homeless but it can anyone in serious need.
- Meals are typically prepared on Friday afternoons and served to groups and individuals in downtown Indy Marion county. So far this year Liberty Village and Brown Bag have together served over 450 meals and provided more than 150 family Meal Boxes.
- Planned for launch later summer or early fall are meals to the hungry in Hendricks and Johnson counties and this includes seniors who are forced to go without. Exact launch date will depend on the availability of volunteers and funding for the food purchases.
The Good Samaritans Closet
- This program collects adult clothing and shoes from a multitude of sources and redistributes them to the homeless and other families or individuals in serious need. We could use any and all new or gently used clothes and shoes of all sizes. For health reasons socks and underwear must be new and in a sealed package. This is an on going effort so contact us if you can help with donor coordination, pickup, sorting and/or distribution.
Fund Raising Events
- In 2021 we hosted a golf outing complete with prizes and a gourmet dinner. We are in the planning stage for additional events for 2022 and beyond. These types of activities give everyone associated with or interested in what Liberty Village is doing, the opportunity to meet the staff and to network among others with a similar mindset. They are designed for fun so join us if you can. We need volunteers to help with many different aspects so contact us if you have any interest in having a great time..
